Michigan House Judiciary Takes Testimony on Online Public Notices

Last week, the League, along with Ann Arbor City Clerk Jackie Beaudry and city of Detroit Clerk Janice Winfrey, testified in support of legislation to allow public notices to be published online. The legislation would require a notice be posted in the city clerk's office as well as one of the following: a city's website, a newspaper's website, or on a PEG channel. Michigan Top Five in National Census Participation Rates! – The U.S. Census Bureau has announced that Michigan is one of a handful of states that has exceeded its mail-in participation rate from the 2000 census. Michigan's return rate of 77 percent, ranked in the top five states in the country! And Livonia ranked first in participation in the entire country for cities over 50,000 in population. MORE>
