State Affairs Update

Senate to Hold Hearing On Two-Inch Rule Bill – Tomorrow afternoon at 1 pm the Senate Judiciary Committee is holding a hearing on SB 1475, a bill that would reinstate the long standing two-inch rule with regard to sidewalks and municipal liability. The introduced version of the bill will be substituted in committee to make sure the language proposed does in fact reinstate the two-inch rule which was overturned earlier this year by the Michigan Supreme Court in Robinson v. City of Lansing. MORE>

Michigan Wins In Second Round of Rail Funding – News reports last week revealed that Michigan is coming out on top in the second round of high-speed rail grant funding coming out of Washington, to the tune of about $160 million. The federal government announced the availability of nearly $2.5 billion of additional high-speed rail grants earlier this summer. MORE>
