This afternoon the House concurred in HB 5002, a bill making changes to the workers compensation system.

The goal of the changes is to provide incentives for injured employees to find work if they are able. It makes changes accordingly such as requiring that an injury be distinguishable from a previous condition.

Last week the Senate exempted police officers and firefighters from the legislation. The House concurred on this change. The legislation was approved on mostly party lines.

The legislation now heads to Governor Snyder for his signature.
