Last week I had the pleasure of attending our Region 7 meeting in Calumet. This is my second trip up to Region 7, and I love going to visit our members in the Upper Peninsula. Calumet is a fantastic town with an absolutely beautiful downtown and captivating buildings like the Calumet Theater and St. Paul's Church (which is jaw droppingly beautiful). As always, spending a few days with our members recharges the batteries and gives me a renewed sense of purpose in my job here in Lansing. We were joined by Representatives Lahti (from Hancock) and Lindberg (from Marquette) for the legislative panel on the last morning. As usual, news from Lansing isn't exactly cherry. But our members had some inventive ideas and suggestions that I hope the legislators will take into account. Thanks to Sue Dana and the Village of Calumet for a wonderful welcome. I'm looking forward to next year's meeting in Ishpeming!
