A free webinar to discuss the Michigan Development Impact Study will be held on Tuesday, July 27th from 12:00 - 1:30 pm.
The study is the result of a 2-year effort by The Michigan Association of Planning, with funding assistance from the Michigan Department of Transportation, MOTT, and the Americana Foundation, to document a process and make recommendations to: a) attract development to the State, b) target federal and state investment, c) coordinate and expedite development reviews for projects that may have impacts beyond the municipal boundary in which it is proposed, d) involve affected and impacted stakeholders, e) provide incentives for coordinated planning.
The study was guided by a state-wide Advisory Committee, on which the League participated, and recommends a more coordinated and cooperative approach to planning for, reviewing and permitting developments that will have benefits that extend beyond municipal boundaries and to develop a more economically and environmentally sustainable approach to development.
This webinar will provide an overview of the process that the Advisory Committee took to develop the report as well as get into the specific recommendations and discussions about next steps to move the recommendations forward.
