This afternoon the Senate Energy & Technology Committee reviewed PA 480 of 2006, Michigan's Uniform Video Franchising Law. This law is one that League members have continued to oppose, and in the last 4 years litigation has been pursued by several communities as a result of the Act.
The goal of the hearing was to assess the efficiency of the law and determine if any changes need to be made. There are a number of changes our members are interested in including ensuring 2 percent of gross revenues for PEG funding.
We will be working with the Chair's office to determine if any legislation will result.
