The Senate Commerce Committee today took up some of the final bills related to the transit-oriented development options package. The package of bills amends a variety of economic development statutes, and specifically allows the tools to be for transit-oriented development and facilities. The bills passed by Senate Committee today are HB 5977, HB 5979, HB 5988, HB 5989, and HB 5998. These bills are expected to pass the Senate next week and go to the Governor. The House Intergovernmental Committee is planning to take up the last remaining bills on Tuesday. Those bills will then go to the Governor and the package will be complete. The League has been working with Sen. Allen, Rep. Donigan and a variety of other legislators on this legislative package, and is very supportive of the bills and the focus on transit-oriented development.
