Now that the angst and anxiety of April 15 is gone, I thought I might take a moment to try and go where few dare to go....into the quicksand of sanity on the subject of paying taxes. Believe me, I'm fully aware of the frustration regarding the current economic situation and of its impact on many, many people. But, as we hear the rant of less taxes, let us remind ourselves that tax dollars pay for the services, you, I and our families use every day. Which makes me wonder, do those who attended the tea party's and are constant in their call for less and less taxes think about how the water they use to bath or make their coffee gets clean? Or, will they turn around and find another way to get home as they come across roads and bridges that are repaired with those hated stimulus dollars. And so, for those dreaming of a world of less taxes, I give you a piece from the Oklahoma Policy Institute and urge us all to make an effort at a sane discussion on tax and revenue policy and the services we want funded by government.
