The US Department of Transportation has announced that requests for funding under the TIGER II grant program has far exceeded the $600 million available.

According to USDOT, nearly 1,000 grant requests have been received from all 50 states, U.S. territories and the District of Columbia, totalling more than $19 billion.

The $600 million in TIGER II grants is for capital investment in surface transportation projects. Projects will be awarded on a competitive basis, with emphasis given to those applications that contribute to the condition of existing transportation facilities and systems, increase energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and enhance the quality of living and working environments of communities through increased transportation choices and connections.

Let the League know if your community applied directly for funding or through your regional agency.
