The Governor yesterday signed SB 1147, which is now PA 144 of 2010. This bill fixes language inadvertantly left out of the supportive housing law, which was passed a few years ago. The legislation at the time was supposed to limit the number of supportive housing units statewide to 250, and this was inadvertantly left out. HB 6098 corrects that problem. The bill also creates a new definition of individual living unit, which makes this a house (bedrooms, kitchen, etc). It also limits a housing unit to 6 persons and not more than 4 bedrooms. Finally, the bill changes some of the filing dates. It will require an owner of a property to file with MSHDA before November 1st and with the local assessor before December 1st. Current law has the owner filing with the assessor before November 1st. The League supported this bill.
