The House yesterday passed HB 6098, which would fix language left out of the suppotive housing law that was passed a few years ago. The legislation at the time was supposed to limit the number of supportive housing units statewide to 250, and this was inadvertently left out. HB 6098 corrects that problem. The bill also creates a new definition of individual living unit, which makes this a house (bedrooms, kitchen, etc). It also limits a housing unit to 6 persons and not more than 4 bedrooms. Finally, the bill changes some of the filing dates. It will require an owner of a property to file with MSHDA before November 1st and with the local assessor before December 1st. Current law has the owner filing with the assessor before November 1st. The League supported this bill and it is expected to move quickly in the Senate.
