In the Michigan State Police (MSP) budget that was reported from conference committee on Friday afternoon, local law enforcement agencies will not have to pay a fee to use the Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN).  The state will cover the entire amount of the system for Fiscal Year 2011 only.

This deal would still require locals to pay any outstanding LEIN balance.

The MSP conference report is expected to be voted on by both chambers this week.
