Speaker holds second hearing on health care reform

The House Appropriations room was once again overflowing for the second hearing on the Speaker's health care reform. Testimony was given by Phil Power (Center for Michigan), Mitch Bean (House Fiscal Agency Director) and Charles Ballard, a professor at MSU.  Phil emphasized the need for comprehensive government reform, and Mitch Bean indicated that it's important to get an actuarial analysis for savings in the health care plan.  The League is anticipating that we'll testify later this month following convention.  Rep. Byrnes, the committee chair, also said the updated white paper will be available online today.
