This week the Senate passed a package of bills that would move school election dates to August or November of even years. This is a measure widely supported by municipal and county clerks because voter turnout at May school elections is generally quite low.

The package includes SBs 751, 752, 754 and 755.  The bills also would prohibit schools from changing their election date after March 31, 2011.

This legislation has been referred to the Ethics and Elections committee in the House.
