Just moments ago the Senate passed SB 201, a bill reinstating the long-standing 2 inch rule for sidewalk liability. The bill now goes to the House for consideration.

The League worked closely on this bill with the Michigan Association of Municipal Attorneys and had a number of productive discussions with the Michigan Association for Justice resulting in the Senate-passed version.

We are grateful to Sen. Schuitmaker for advancing this important legislation and will continue to work on this issue in the House.
