This afternoon the Senate passed the DeLEG budget maintaining fire protection grant funding at current year levels, $10.9 million.
In addition, the Governor proposed raising fees to make up $2.6 million for the Bureau of Fire Services. As this budget passed the House it contained $2.6 million dollars in funding for the Bureau of Fire Services as a result of new revenue from legalizing aerial fireworks and charging fees for the use and sale of these fireworks. The Senate instead used $2.6 million from the general fund to make up this difference.
The budget was sent back to the House. It is expected the House will non-concur and the bill will be sent to a conference committee.
