Yesterday the Senate Energy & Technology Committee started review of PA 286 of 2008, a law that changed Michigan's energy policy.
The League testified that the legislation needed several changes to benefit municipalities.
First municipal rates should be based on the actual cost of service to municipalities as the law requires for educational institutions.
in addition the automatic rate inrease provisions after 180 days should be repealed and the 10 percent cap on electric choice should be increased or eliminated.
The committee will continue testimony next week.
