This afternoon the Senate Judiciary Committee passed SB 201, a bill that would restore the 2 inch rule for sidewalk liabilty. The 2 inch rule was effectively abolished last year by the Michigan Supreme Court in Robinson v. City of Lansing.

The League has been working closely with the Michigan Association for Justice on language, and we're perilously close to getting to where we'd like to be. 

We are thankful for Sen. Schuitmaker for pursuing this important legislation, and we expect the full Senate to take this up in the next few weeks.
