This afternoon the Senate Judiciary Committee reported SBs 163 and 164, bills that would allow online publications to publish legal notices if there is no print publication available.
The League testified as neutral on the bill alongside the Michigan Association of Counties and Michigan Townships Association.
While we appreciate the committee recognizing online publication as legal notice in these circumstances, we really think that we should go a step further to allow all legal notices to be published online for cost savings and transparency per the package of bills we were pushing last session.
