The Michigan Senate passed two bills this morning that will provide millions of dollars for communities to assist with waste water infrastructure financing and brownfield site clean-up activities. Senate Bills 1442 and 1443 were approved by the Senate on identical votes of 36-2 and are now headed to the Michigan House. In discussions with the House New Economy committee chairman, immediately following the Senate vote, he indicated that the House committee is prepared to act on these funding bills next Wednesday morning. The League is actively supporting these bills and has been a key participant in the drafting of the legislation that moved out of the Senate today.
