Today, we were again successful in holding off a vote on the cable dispute resolution bill.  Rep. Barnett (from Farmington Hills and former League president) offered an amendment to remove the language requiring payment of attorney fees and would also allow each side to pick a mediator.  The amendment needed 56 votes to pass, and we had 63 "yes" votes up on the voting board.  This isn't what the bill sponsor wanted, so the floor leader moved to clear the board and pass this item for the day.  The lobby was quiet enough to hear a pin drop. It was a very exciting day for us, and we will be back at this again next week. If you haven't already done so, call your legislators. 63 of them were willing to put up a vote for their local unit of government, so it's a good day for us!
