The Michigan Infrastructure and Transportation Association released a list of the state's worst roads, based upon the Michigan Asset Management Council Annual Report of Roads and Bridges. The release notes that the number of road miles labeled in "poor" condition rose from 25% to 32% in one year. MITA laid the blame for this decline on a collapsing funding system and state and federal legislators who are unwilling to take action and make Michigan's roads a priority.
This report should highlight for every legislator and every community the importance of reversing this trend. Infrastructure and roads are key ingredients to a healthy, growing economy...supporting that priority with enough resources to get the job done is critical to turning Michigan around. Take this opportunity to talk with your State Representatives, State Senators and Congressional delegation about the importance of creating a stable, reliable funding source for Michigan's roads.
