So today in the full Appropriations Committee in the Senate, Senator Cherry introduced the amendment that would keep local communities whole on revenue sharing in the General Government budget (this is the issue that if Constitutional goes down...they would have to automatically increase Statutory to get back to the same level). And after she made comments to the effect of how critical it is for us to have stable outlooks on revenue considering what we are going through - Senator Pappageorge (the chair of the General Government Subcommittee) said "Sure. I can agree to that." Holy cow!!! The amendment passed and as of right now - we have guaranteed funding at the same levels for next year in the budget! I can't tell you how amazing this is - there is such a critical eye on the budget right now. Having a guaranteed figure to budget on would be huge for all of our communities and I am happy to report the good news! Please call your Senator and tell them to SUPPORT the General Government budget (which I am guessing will be voted on next week).
