Revenue Sharing 2010-11 Budget Headed to Conference Committee

Every municipalities across Michigan today regardless of size or population is effected by the continuing reduction in revenue sharing. Because our representatives in Lansing and even in Washington D.C., fail to bite the bullet and be fiscal responsible with spending.
Our municipal budgets across the country continues to forecast cuts and struggle in most cases not because of our own lack of being financial responsible as Councils, or Administratively. But actually due to the lack of those in Lansing and Washington D.C., to act responsibly and stop spending and borrowing on the back of our children.
Today we ask our legislators in Lansing to allow us to do our job and our responsibility to the local citizens and taxpayers. This starts with discontinuing the cuts in revenue sharing that is being used everyday to fill the holes in the states budget.
Why should local taxpayers and local municipalities pay for your lack of understanding fiscal responsibilities and the future demands on the state budget. I ask that our representatives consider the meaning of being fiscal responsible, the state has failed and we ask that you please allow us to do our jobs. Stop cutting revenue sharing and consider passing the original House version.
