Those seeking to increase truck weight restrictions will apparently use a new transportation authorization bill in the House as their vehicle.  Hearings on the bill are expected to begin this week.  (See related story).

Michigan Congresswoman Candice Miller is a member of the committee that will hear the bill.  Members are urged to contact her as soon as possible and ask that she oppose any such efforts to increase truck weights.

The reason for opposing heavier truck weights is simple: heavier trucks would tear up our roads and bridges, adding to our already large infrastructure problems.

The League is working with our national partners to oppose any efforts, in any bill, to increase truck weights.  Please contact your federal legislator and ask them to oppose as well.
