Lt. Governor Cherry Urges Public Comment on Asian Carp Strategy

LANSING – Lieutenant Governor John D. Cherry, Jr. today noted that Friday, March 26, is the deadline for public comments on the draft federal Asian Carp Control Strategy Framework.

“Michigan citizens and organizations who care deeply about protecting the Great Lakes from the threat posed by the potential invasion of Asian carp should take note of this critical opportunity to speak out on the proposed federal response,” Cherry said.  “The state of Michigan must continue to use every forum available to call for stronger protections than are outlined in the draft framework.

“We appreciate the effort made to coordinate the federal agencies’ response to the potential threat to the Great Lakes posed by Asian carp.  More importantly, we appreciate the comment opportunity that has been afforded the Great Lakes community to identify ways in which the draft framework can be improved.”

The draft Framework is available at: http://www.asiancarp.org/regionalcoordination/
Comments should be sent to:  carpcomments@gmail.com
