One of the fun parts of my job is that I'm often given the opportunity to testify and present to legislative committees. Today I had the opportunity to present the League's Prosperity Agenda to the House Transportation Committee and it seemed as if they really enjoyed it. They really got it. They understood that if Michigan is going to prosper we need:
- To significantly expand public transit in Michigan.
- To enact the recommendations of the Transportation Funding Task Force (TF2) report.
- To protect public safety and other essential local services.
- To use federal stimulus funds to restore local infrastrucutre first.
- To promote sustainable development, green initiatives and cultural economic development
Maybe I'm being optimistic ... but I really think they got it and that they like me! They really do like me!
