One of our challenges in Michigan is to stop all the negative talk and begin speaking out about the good things going on.  This past week's Capital Conference provided us with just such an opportunity as we held a session featuring three Michigan communities that are moving forward with efforts to make become more vibrant.  The session included the cites of Boyne City for their work on attracting entrepreneurs, Owosso for efforts in cultural economic development and Grand Rapids for its recent master plan revisions that are leading to a more walkable and green community.  So, when you hear all that negative talk about how Michigan's a terrible place to be right now, remind them otherwise.  I have no doubt everyone has a positive story to tell about their own community.
