The Legislature has passed SB 726, which requires that Planning Commissioners must be at least 18 years old. When the Planning Enabling Act was created a few years ago, the language allowed anyone of any age to serve on a planning commission. SB 726 says that a person must be a qualified elector in the community that they live in order to serve on a planning commision. What that means is that the person must be 18 years of age. The bill passed both houses of the Legislature, and is expected to be signed into law by the Governor.
