The Governor's Administration and Senator Brandenburg, the chair of the Senate Finance committe, said in media interviews this week that reform/repeal of the personal property tax (PPT) is now a 2012 issue and that they won't be focusing on that when they come back for the last three weeks of session in 2011, waiting instead until after the legilature comes back from their holiday break in January. The League has been working hard to raise the issues of eliminating the PPT without a guaranteed replacement and has formed a broad coalition as part of our Replace Don't Erase campaign www.replacedonterase.com. We continue to have positive conversations with the Governor's office and the Speaker's office regarding the impact this would have to communities. We will continue to keep you posted as updates on this critical issue come forth.

Summer Minnick is the Director of State Affairs for the League. She can be reached at 517-908-0301 or sminnick@mml.org
