Earlier this month, the work on M-115 in Clare County was selected by AAA, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) as one of America's 10 best transportation projects. The America's Transportation Award will be determined by independent judging, while the People's Choice Award will be decided by popular vote. Both awards will be announced at the AASHTO annual meeting on Oct. 25 in Palm Desert, Calif. Named in the "innovative management" category of the national competition, the project involved upgrading 5.5 miles of M-115 from Lake Station Avenue to the Osceola/Clare county line. Work included resurfacing, intersection drainage improvements, guardrail upgrades, and bridge replacements. This is the first time Michigan has been selected to compete for the America's Transportation Award and for the People's Choice honor. Please go online and complete your vote; let's show the nation that Michigan, the state that put the world on wheels, is also home to the best transportation project in the country.

Voting is currently underway and continues until Oct. 23 online at: www.americastransportationaward.org/
