The Michigan Department of Transportation has partnered with Amtrak, the Michigan Association of Rail Passengers and a number of other organizations to promote May 8, 2010 as National Train Day. Many communities in Michigan have adopted resolutions recognizing that day, with some planning events within their community to celebrate the event, especially those along the three main lines that Amtrak operates in Michigan.
