United States Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood has announced that Michigan will be receiving $150 million in high speed rail funds for upgrades along the Detroit to Chicago corridor.
In spite of the recent 2012 budget agreement that provided no additional funding for high speed rail projects, Michigan is reaping the benefits of the generosity of various governors from across the country who turned back high speed rail funds to the federal government.
The funds in question were sent back by the governors of Florida, Ohio and Wisconsin and were still available to the administration because they were appropriated in previous budget years.
