U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood has announced over $750 million for urban and rural transit providers to help bring buses, bus facilities and related equipment into a state of good repair. Money from the Federal Transit Administration's new "State of Good Repair" discretionary grant prgram will go to 152 projects in 45 states, including 6 in Michigan.
Included in the awards is funding for the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority, Blue Water Area Transportation Commission, Flint Mass Transit Authority, Saginaw Transit Authority Regional Services and MDOT to replace vehicles and upgrade facilities and equipment
The purpose of the "State of Good Repair" program is to strengthen and modernize transportation across the nation in order to operate more efficient, safer, and more reliabile rides.
