Mandate bill remains in House

Despite late night sessions and end of the year shenanigans in the legislature, HB 5671 remained on the House floor during the last days the legislature will meet in 2009.  Thank you to all of our members who contacted their legislators asking for opposition to this bill that would require health care reporting.  I reiterated to legislators a number of times that we are not opposed to the collection of this data, but we are opposed to another unfunded mandate on local units of government.  If you are contacted about this information from your legislator and would like to share it, please do. Again, our concern isn't that we don't want this data being shared but just that this is another requirement by the state with a strict deadline. We will continue to work with the bill sponsor and committee chair on this issue in the new year.
