Making Tough Decisions

I'm stealing this line from a number of people, but out of this catastrophic budget situation comes great opportunity.  This is an opportunity to make hard decisions and get some real structural reforms that are necessary as Michigan moves forward. Today I was at a forum hosted by the Center for Michigan that discussed broad public sector reform ideas. On the agenda were some of our favorite topics including PA 312 and the Urban Cooperation Act.  The event was widely attended with a variety of interested parties. I was sitting by someone representing the Michigan Republican party on one side and an accountant on the other...definitely a diverse group of people.  I talked to some of our members who were there, and I think the event presented a lot of interesting ideas for how we reform to save significant money.  There was even a quote in the packet taken from one of my previous blog posts about the Urban Cooperation Act.
