In its wind energy report to the legislature, the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) upheld local control by recommending that setback distances and noise levels for wind energy continue to be made by local planning and zoning authorities.  The MPSC was required to submit a report under PA 295 of 2008 after public hearings in Lansing, Bad Axe and Traverse City.  The League worked closely on PA 295 of 2008 to preserve local zoning for wind energy, and we appreciate the support of the Commission in preserving local control.
