Sunday through yesterday, I went to DC with a bunch of our members to lobby our congressional members and their staffs (in conjunction with the NLC conference).  We spent two solid days on the Hill, and had tremendous results.  Personally, I met with two Congressmen who truly understand that better communities make a better Michigan.  Congressman Gary Peters (D-Bloomfield) was busy fighting the AIG bonuses (he put in legislation on Monday) and was in high demand, but took time out of his day to meet with us and hear about important League issues.  Congressman Bart Stupak (D-Menominee) engaged us on the importance of cities and villages in northern Michigan.  Senators Stabenow and Levin briefed us on important issues and heard our opinions.  Senator Stabenow even said that she was excited about the League’s prosperity agenda!  Overall, a very tiring, busy, and extremely productive trip.  Thanks to all who were able to participate!
