Whenever MDOT updates the State Transportation Improvement Plan (STIP), they hold a public comment period on the projects that are being included in it. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), as part of the requirements for transportation stimulus funds, required an update to the STIP.
MDOT has posted the list of STIP projects on the MDOT website at www.michigan.gov/stip
The projects listed on this are those that have been selected by MDOT to be funded by their share of the federal stimulus program (approximately $647 million). Local road projects receiving funds will be determined by the 13 Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPO)'s and are going to be a part of this STIP update by reference.
The public comment period will be open through April 11, 2009. Members can email comments regarding the STIP to MDOT-STIP-Comments@michigan.gov.
