With Congress now on its "Presidents Day" holiday recess for the next week, local officials are urged to speak with their congressional representatives about the massive reduction in CDBG funds adopted by the House.
The cuts to CDBG are one of many contained in H.R.1, legislation adopted by the House that cuts federal spending by $61 billion for the remainder of the 2011 fiscal year. CDBG is cut by 62.5% or $2.5 billion.
The Senate will being its work uponl its return on February 28th. Now is the time for local officials to "show and tell" your federal representatives about the many benefits of CDBG in your communities.
