Local officials from across the state of Michigan have been appointed to serve on National League of Cities Policy and Advocacy committees. The committees have the lead responsibility for considering NLC federal policy positions in a number of key areas.
Troy Councilmember and former League President Robin Beltramini was selected to serve as Chair of the CityFutures Panel on Democratic Governance.
Wayne Councilwoman and current MML Board member Susan Rowe and Muskegon City Commissioner and former League Vice-President Clara Shepherd were appointed to the Community and Economic Devleopment Policy and Advocacy Steering Committee.
Mary Conner, Councilwoman from Monroe, Ellen Ellenburg, Councilmember from Burton and Patrick Ivey, Councilmember from Saline were appointed to the Energy, Envrionment, and Natural Resources Policy and Advocacy Steering Committee.
Myron Fraiser, Councilmember from Southfield, and Ann Capela, City Manager of Inkster were appointed to the Finance, Administration, and Intergovernmental Relations Policy and Advocacy Steering Committee. Saginaw City Manager Darnell Earley was appointed to the full committee.
Councilmembers Barry Brickner and Ken Massey from Farmington Hills were appointed to the Information Technology and Communications Policy and Advocacy Steering Committee and the Public Safety and Crime Prevention Policy and Advocacy Steering Committee, respectively. Detroit Councilman Gary Brown was appointed to the full Public Safety Committee.
