In the 2010 budget, a new requirement was added that requires local units of government that receive liquor law enforcement grants to report to the Liquor Control Commission (LCC) their expenditures related to enforcement of the Liquor Control Code. Locals also must also report on liquor-related fees they impose themselves. LCC sent out a notice through their Finance Division to these governmental units which gives more details on these requirements. This provision was apparently added to the budget because the state was going to increase liquor fees and several parties testified against the increases.  These parties indicated that locals have been increasing fees significantly, and also complained that locals are getting law enforcement grants from the state while also increasing their own local fees.  The Legislature created this new report to collect information on how much locals are assessing for fees.
