February 9th marks the one year anniversary of the "Lets Move Cities and Towns" campaign (LMCT). The campaign, headed by First Lady Michelle Obama with strong support from the President's Task Force on Childhood Obesity and the Secretary of Health and Human Services, is part of a overall effort to solve the problem of childhood obesity by engaging communities and local leaders.

The campaign is designed to encourage mayors and elected officials to adopt a long-term, sustainable, and holistic approach to fight childhood obesity. Several Michigan communities including Adrian, Saline, Southfield and Taylor have joined the effort.
