The Michigan Municipal League’s Anthony Minghine will participate in a live online chat 2 p.m. Thursday on mlive.com following Gov. Rick Snyder’s budget presentation. Snyder is expected to give a budget presentation Thursday morning and Minghine and Flint Journal reporter Kristin Longley will discuss the budget plan with mlive.com readers. You can view the online chat at this link. The League is anxiously awaiting the governor’s budget presentation as proposed cuts impacting all areas of the state, including municipalities, are expected. For League members, revenue sharing is expected to be cut. No firm numbers have been leaked about how much, though, which is consistent with Snyder's comments that nothing will be released until Thursday. League staff will be closely following the budget as it develops.
The budget presentation will be televised on MGTV (public-access tv) and online on the Senate or House websites. For questions as the budget develops, contact Summer Minnick or Andy Schor.
Matt Bach is the director of communications for the Michigan Municipal League. He can be reached at (734) 669-6317 or mbach@mml.org.
