Gov. Rick Snyder delivered his special message on community development and local government reforms on March 21. The announcement has generated a flurry of activity from local officials, creating a fair amount of questions and confusion.

It is important to remember that at this point in the process the governor's message is a proposal, not law. It is now up to the Legislature to implement the governor's recommendations.  The League has been, and will continue to work with the administration and the Legislature to ensure that we have the best tools possible to aid local officials in implementing these requirements.

In the meantime, we have created a resource page to provide the latest information available. A button will be added to the homepage for easy access to the resource.  We'll continue to keep you updated through the resource page, this blog, our home page and Legislative LINK.

And don't forget to attend our Capital Conference on April 5th and 6th where the Governor's Director of Strategy, Bill Rustem and others will be speaking on the reforms that have been proposed.
