Last week Speaker Dillon sent out information regarding how other states pool health care and asked for a response from the League.  Our response is essentially that many of our members have already been participating in health care pools. In addition, whatever the proposed plan looks like it needs to ensure there is competition to ensure the most cost effective health care plans are available for our members. Finally, we emphasized that without changing PA 312 to define ability to pay and include internal comparables arbitrators can still award unaffordable wage and retirement increases thus negating any possible savings from health care pooling.
