Yesterday, the League staff testified on the impact of revenue sharing cuts over the past decade to local communities in the House General Government Subcommittee on Appropriations, which is the committee which handles the revenue sharing part of the state budget. Summer Minnicka nd Arnold Weinfeld discussed the history of local government revenue sharing and provided reaction to Governor Snyder's call for the elimination of statutory revenue sharing and the creation of a new program focused on incentivizing payments to communities - a program that would total $200 million. Attached is the League's testimony from both of them, who presented together. In addition, the League created a fact sheet that was distributed to legislators that outlines the critical nature of this funding, which is also attached. Governor Snyder has yet to announce the details of the incentive-based program. The League has been working with the administration on the issues and we hope to continue being a partner as they develop the details of the program.
