DETROIT, Michigan - Michigan Municipal League CEO Dan Gilmartin is the keynote speaker for the annual meeting of Citizens Research Council of Michigan taking place Friday (Sept. 16, 2011) at the Detroit Athletic Club.
The theme of this year's event is the fiscal health of local governments, and Gilmartin said he was honored to be invited to present on this important and timely topic. For over 90 years, the objective of the Citizens Research Council of Michigan has been to provide factual, unbiased independent information on significant issues concerning state and local government organization and finance. CRC believes that the use of this information by policymakers will lead to sound, rational public policy in Michigan.
A morning panel on the fiscal challenges facing cities will feature Grand Rapids Mayor George Heartwell, Joyce Parker, Emergency Manager for the City of Ecorse, and Mark Docherty, President of the Michigan Professional Fire Fighters Union. Details: http://www.crcmich.org/2011am.html.
