This week appears to be the last week of session for both the House and the Senate. The House is in each day but the Senate is just in on Thursday. The major issue that needs to be resolved revolves around "Race to the Top" federal funding, which requires legislative changes in education in order for Michigan to qualify. There are however, several other issues that impact local communities that will see some action this week - as outlined throughout this issue of the Link. Since this December is not "lame duck" all of the bills that have been introduced this year are still active next year and do not need to be reintroduced.
