Despite Congressional approval of a delay in the digital television conversion, broadcast stations still have the option of switching to digital before the new date of June 12. And lo and behold, many of them still plan to do so. Local officials should be prepared to tell confused and frustrated residents to call their federal representatives when those who do not have the proper equipment are unable to receive a television signal from a particular station that makes the switch. If this doesn't smack of that old cynical adage... "we're from the government and we're here to help" I don't know what does.
